2025 in Review: A Year of Deepening Impact Across Colombia

Our Blog

Seventy-four projects. Ten departments. More than 70,000 lives were touched. As we close the books on 2025, we’re proud to share what your generosity made possible—and what it means for the road ahead.

2025 was not an easy year for the social impact world. The winding down of major development programs, including USAID initiatives, sent ripples across Latin America and left many communities searching for stable footing. In moments like these, philanthropy matters more than ever. For 22 years, Caring for Colombia has done one thing well: build bridges of trust between donors in the United States and the visionary Colombian organizations doing the work on the ground. We don’t implement projects ourselves—we multiply the resources, reach, and resilience of a network of allied foundations who do. In a turbulent year, that model held strong.

The Year at a Glance

In 2025, Caring for Colombia channeled US$1,676,295 to Colombia in support of 74 projects, reaching 16,311 direct beneficiaries and more than 70,479 people in total across 10 departments. Ninety-nine percent of every contribution flowed directly to projects through our fiscal sponsorship model—and because Caring for Colombia is a U.S.-registered foundation, all of it was fully tax-deductible for our donors.

Those 74 projects spanned four pillars:

Education — 32 projects, US$742,246 transferred, 5,776 direct beneficiaries
Health & Well-being — 17 projects, US$602,906 transferred, 6,628 direct beneficiaries
Community Development — 12 projects, US$257,019 transferred, 3,057 direct beneficiaries
Arts & Culture — 13 projects, US$74,123 transferred, 850 direct beneficiaries

What the Numbers Made Possible

Behind every figure is a person whose year changed. Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the projects funded in 2025 helped:

7,811 students access quality education
11,348 people receive health services
4,148 people improve their food security
3,817 people from underserved communities join inclusive programs
2,954 people move out of monetary poverty
2,512 women and girls access programs advancing gender equality
2,213 people engage in climate action and environmental awareness

A Growing Community of Givers

None of this happens without our donors—and in 2025, the community grew meaningfully. 215 new donors joined us, helping drive a 45% increase in total funds raised over the prior year, with an average contribution of US$3,437. We also opened new pathways for generosity, welcoming gifts through stock donations and Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) alongside our recurring donor and partner network.

Spotlight: Caring 5 Grants

Beyond donor-directed giving, our Caring 5 grantmaking initiative awarded two US$5,000 grants to allied foundations advancing bold, community-rooted ideas:

“La Bulla Verde” (Santa Marta, Magdalena) — Fundación Tiempo de Campo blended folkloric music and environmental education across 150 sessions, engaging children and youth in biodiversity, recycling, and care for their local river. 70 direct beneficiaries.
“La innovación ‘le abre campo’ al campo” (Cajamarca, Tolima) — Universidad de Ibagué brought STEM education to rural students through robotics, building problem-solving and entrepreneurial skills through hands-on electronics, programming, and mechanics. 54 direct beneficiaries.

Impact in Action

Across our four pillars, allied foundations turned resources into real change: Fundación Amadeus reactivated its music school in Bello, engaging 110+ children and youth; Fundación Big Dreamers reached 740+ young people with bilingual education in Cartagena; Fundación Bibliotec built and activated a new community library in Nuquí, Chocó; and Fundación Tiempo de Juego used sport to build resilience and teamwork for 171 children and youth in Soacha and Puerto Tejada. These are just a few of the stories your support wrote this year.

Connecting Beyond Colombia

2025 also deepened our presence in the global philanthropic conversation. We took part in signature convenings during Climate Tech Week and UNGA Week—co-organized with Fundación SoyDoy and our new partner Catalyst Now, with space generously provided by JPMorgan—and joined Giving Tuesday Colombia in support of APC Colombia’s national push for collective generosity. We also relaunched our newsletters for donors and allied foundations, reconnecting a community of more than 7,300 followers across our channels.

Connecting Beyond Colombia

2025 was also a year of renewal inside Caring for Colombia, as a new team joined to strengthen our vision for the future. As we move into 2026, our commitment is clear: deepen partnerships, sharpen our strategy, and keep building a stronger philanthropic ecosystem that connects generosity in the U.S. with transformation in Colombia.

To every donor, partner, and ally who made 2025 possible—thank you. Your trust is the bridge, and together we keep it standing.
