Education and Human Development
Fundación Holguín Cuéllar
Fundación Holguín Cuéllar is a non-profit organization whose institutional mission is to promote human development and social equity in rural communities of Boyacá through sustainable programs in education, health, and well-being that close gaps in access and opportunity.
Our differential approach centers on comprehensive care for children, adolescents, and older adults in the municipalities of Sáchica and Villa de Leyva, prioritizing the rural population and families in situations of vulnerability. We work from a territorial intervention model that brings together educational institutions, health centers, and community leaders to ensure the relevance and continuity of our actions.
In education, we are developing a project set to begin in February 2027 to strengthen reading and comprehension skills among primary and secondary students. We provide pedagogical support in English at rural schools and award university scholarships in the city of Tunja to the top students from both municipalities, promoting social mobility and retention in higher education. In health, we lead ophthalmology brigades that benefit children and adults. These campaigns include medical assessments, any surgeries required, and the provision of eyeglasses, in order to prevent and treat visual problems that affect school performance and quality of life.
In addition, we arrange targeted housing and food assistance for cases of extreme need, identified through social assessment. Through this work, the Foundation seeks to generate measurable impact on human capital and well-being in Sáchica and Villa de Leyva.
Educating and healing to improve quality of life and support social mobility.
