Fundación Infantil Santiago Corazón

Fundación Infantil Santiago Corazón was founded in 1988 in Medellín, Colombia, in response to a deeply painful reality: thousands of children with heart conditions lacked access to timely diagnosis and treatment due to a scarcity of specialists, infrastructure, and financial resources. Since its inception, Santiago Corazón has worked to bridge these gaps and uphold the right to healthcare for children with congenital heart disease across the country.

Over 37 years, Santiago Corazón has built strategic partnerships with high-complexity institutions such as Clínica Cardio VID and Hospital San Vicente Fundación, enabling the construction and equipping of specialized pediatric cardiovascular care facilities. Thanks to the solidarity of partners, donors, and healthcare professionals, thousands of children have received timely, quality medical care—gaining access to life-saving diagnostics, procedures, and treatments.

Santiago Corazón’s mission is to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to children with heart diseases and their families through early detection, the strengthening of specialized clinical care, capacity building for pediatric cardiology professionals, and investment in high-impact medical technology.

Our approach addresses the medical, emotional, and social dimensions of each child and family, promoting person-centered care grounded in rights and equity. Our purpose is clear and guides every action: we make hearts beat and build a future for children with heart conditions in Colombia.
